MAIN INDICATIONS

Scleral lenses are indicated in several cases such as:

  • Keratoconus
  • Post refractive surgery such as LASIK, RK and PRK
  • Post corneal transplant
  • Post trauma
  • Corneal scars
  • Salzmann’s nodular degeneration
  • Terrien’s marginal degeneration
  • Persistent epithelial defects
  • Graft versus host disease.
  • Sjögren’s syndrome
  • Stevens Johnson syndrome
  • Neurotrophic keratopathy 
  • Limbal stem cell deficiency.
  • Ocular cicatricial pemphigoid
  • Poor comfort with traditional corneal gas permeable contact lenses
  • High refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism)
  • Presbyopia
